Been too long since you’ve let your hair down on the dancefloor? Here, you’ll find good vibes, good music and – to top it all off – a dance battle.
In terms of the music, the focus is on disco and house, but we’ll also be hearing some R‘n’B, funk and Afro beats – in short: anything that’ll get you moving. DJ INA is a dancer, dance teacher and internationally recognised pioneer of the German funk scene. She is best known for her work with the dance style known as locking.
One of the evening’s highlights will be a dance battle. We’re not giving away the exact time, because the party is the main event!
The evening’s top 16 dancers will be competing for a cash prize, with a panel of judges deciding the winner. Of course, dancing yourself is not compulsory: you can also just watch and enjoy the show.
The three judges, from Cologne, Münster and Vienna, will be holding workshops, offering an insight into urban dance culture. These start at 4.30 PM.
Open to everyone, from amateurs to pros. Recommended for 16 years and older
The judges
- Kevin is a freelance dancer specialising in hip-hop, waacking and contemporary dance. He has also created his own artistic works, including the dance film Dear Blackness (as choreographer and creative director), and is part of the first German waacking production, Point of No Return.
- Gioia is a young dancer who organises a wide range of multidisciplinary cultural projects in Münster with her collective, ChaosCultureClub. Whether it’s on stage at a battle or at a jam: Gioia connects with others and showcases her vision of dance. She and her group are a testament to a genuine interest in culture: from dance to performances, to organising jams, to the convergence of rap and graffiti culture.
- Spinelli, is a dancer, performer and gardener from Vienna. Her roots lie in breakdancing, which remains the foundation of her movement style to this day, although she also draws inspiration from hip-hop, house, contemporary dance and the people she meets along the way. As a member of the Succulents crew, the Viennese cultural association Toytopia and the international collective Breaking Silence, she is involved in dance, community work and cultural exchange. Attending battles and jams, she became part of the European breakdancing scene and is now active internationally as a dancer, teacher and judge.
