To mark the International Day of Action for Rivers, WWF Germany is organising a concert for the Isar in cooperation with the Munich Philharmonic and members of the Munich regional group of nature photographers’ association GDT. For this occasion, the musicians choose pieces that reflect the sound of the Isar. The backdrop for the evening’s concert is provided by impressive nature photos of the river’s water habitat and its inhabitants.

A river that inspires: WWF Germany works with the NaturTon foundation, which, in turn, established the charity “Orchester des Wandels” (Orchestras of Change). The common goal of the participating professional musicians is to take action for climate and environment protection. Using unusual concert formats, they address the climate and biodiversity crises, using the emotive power of music to reach and inspire people.

Ulrich Haider, horn player with the Munich Philharmonic, came up with the idea of spreading his enthusiasm by holding a concert for the wild river landscape of the Isar in collaboration with WWF Germany. Musicians from the ranks of the Munich Philharmonic – a percussion ensemble, a string quintet and Haider himself on alphorn – choose pieces for this evening that highlight the Isar’s untamed character.

As a fitting backdrop for the concert, photos by Jürgen Eichinger and members of the Munich regional group of nature photographers’ association GDT will be shown.
