“When I need sax, I call Candy,” said music legend Prince, capturing the essence of Candy Dulfer’s image in all its ambiguity. Hardly any woman has enriched funk the way she has in recent years. “When I need sax, I call Candy,” said music legend Prince, capturing the essence of Candy Dulfer’s image in all its ambiguity. Hardly any woman has enriched funk the way she has in recent years. Funky and sexy, the Dutch jazz saxophonist delights fans and critics with seductive virtuosity and artistic skill.

Her father, the saxophonist Hans Dulfer, laid the talent in her cradle. At the tender age of eleven, Candy already made her first record, founded her first band at the age of 13 and has been playing on the international circuit ever since.

“Saxuality”, her first album, became a huge success and was nominated for a Grammy. Together with the Eurythmics’ Dave Stewart, Dulfer recorded her first hit, “Lily Was Here”. As a funk frontwoman, Candy has worked with Prince as well as Van Morrison, Maceo Parker, Sheila E., Mavis Staples, Lionel Richie, Beyoncé, Pink Floyd, Chaka Khan, Aretha Franklin and Blondie. To date, she has released twelve solo albums, but the stage is still Candy’s true playground.
