The Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra’s charity concerts in aid of SZ Gute Werke, the charity of the Süddeutsche Zeitung is a long established tradition for a good cause. The charity has been supporting people in and around Munich since 1948, when it began its work under the name “Adventskalender für gute Werke” (Advent Calendar for Good Deeds).

The Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra’s charity concerts in aid of SZ Gute Werke, the charity of the Süddeutsche Zeitung is a long established tradition for a good cause. The charity has been supporting people in and around Munich since 1948, when it began its work under the name “Adventskalender für gute Werke” (Advent Calendar for Good Deeds).

In 2023, for example, the charity collected donations of more than 7.4 million euros, which were passed on in full to people in need. And the BRSO charity concert has been an important contributor to those donations for 16 years now. Sir Simon Rattle will conduct Schumann’s salutary Symphony No 2 and Bruckner’s monumental No 7.
