Munich Symphony Orchestra: BeethovenSymphony No 9
The Munich Symphony Orchestra and its principal conductor, Joseph Bastian, will perform this masterpiece on three separate occasions, accompanied by two Munich choirs and a stellar ensemble of soloists: to ring out 2026, to kick off the anniversary year, and on Easter Monday – just a few days after the 200th anniversary of Beethoven’s death – to conclude the complete performance of all his symphonies.

Among Beethoven’s wealth of iconic works, one stands out in particular: his Symphony No 9, which he penned three years before his death. With its scope and the inclusion of Friedrich Schiller’s Ode to Joy, it burst the boundaries of its time, becoming a seminal work in the development of symphonic composition. To this day, Beethoven’s exuberant Kiss to the Whole World continues to lend a festive glow to joyful occasions.
