A student of Giuseppe Maiorca and influenced by masters such as Edith Fischer, Paul Badura-Skoda, Aldo Ciccolini and Bruno Canino, Marano is regarded as one of the most distinctive performers of his generation. He performs on international stages across Europe and the Americas.
In addition to Beethoven and Franz Liszt – the latter born in the Hungarian cultural sphere and shaped by his time in Vienna and Weimar – Marano’s interest lies in Italian modernism. Works by Mario Castelnuovo-Tedesco and Antonio Casagrande open up colourful, rarely heard musical worlds that exude Mediterranean warmth and poetic delicacy. Marano brings these very different European musical traditions into a lively dialogue, creating an evening that showcases their diversity and mutual inspiration.
