Art of SilenceA transdisciplinary concert for the sixth sense

“From silence there arises sound, and in music that which cannot be said is revealed.” Just as yin and yang beget each other in the Tao, the interplay of sound and silence creates a living harmony. In this concert, pianist Jui-Lan Huang takes us on a journey to the essence of our inner selves, to where music and the inaudible are housed and united in the spirit of art, philosophy and psychology.

Inspired by Carl Gustav Jung’s concept of the unconscious as well as the principles of transformation from Taoism and the I-Ching, a space is created in which conversations and Schopenhauer’s view of life convey the melodies on a level of deep experience rather than mere audible perception.
The Taiwanese pianist Jui-Lan Huang inspires international audiences with her sensitivity, subtle sound and poetic expression. Inspired by nature, meditation and philosophy, she strives for artistic depth. With her multimedia concert series Art of Silence, she combines music, literature, photography and visual arts.
