On German Unity Day, the launch of the exhibition Für Deutschland? offers visitors the chance to discover a range of artistic perspectives and to celebrate the start of the accompanying programme together. On German Unity Day, the launch of the exhibition Für Deutschland? offers visitors the chance to discover a range of artistic perspectives and to celebrate the start of the accompanying programme together. With music by AFROAndina, featuring an energetic DJ set of Afro-Andean and tropical rhythms – transcending musical boundaries.
The launch brings the participating artists and visitors together and creates a space for interaction and exchange. The works on display invite us to question our own attitudes: What are our core values? What are our own views on democracy and social responsibility? What does it mean to champion an open, democratic society today? And how does our view of the past shape our perception of the present?
On display are works by Alicia Rieke, Anna Knöller, Anvita Jain, Gina-Marie Bross, Jonas Lewek, Lena-K, Natalia Schmidt and the artist collective Werk70, comprising Anton Kappla, Franca Klier and Yaroslava Garanda.
The works explore, from a variety of perspectives, issues that continue to shape Germany and its social identity to this day: memory and the past, identity and nationality, society and the justice system, war and peace. They explore how history continues to inform the present, how the past is interpreted and reinterpreted in a social context today, and what traces it leaves in our present.
