Content Warnings
The Gasteig offers a broad programme for people from all walks of life. Since you all bring your own life experiences with you, you will experience each event differently from other people. Some topics may trigger negative emotions in some of you or be upsetting or hurtful.
What are content warnings?
Content warnings flag up content that could trigger distress or associations with traumatic experiences. Places, images, sounds or even odours, for example, can trigger memories of traumatic experiences. Triggers can take traumatised people back to a situation that has caused them mental stress in the past.
The aim of content warnings is to prevent those affected from being excluded from social and cultural spaces and events that contain potential triggers. Their feelings are taken seriously and they are welcomed. The warnings can help them prepare and decide for themselves whether or not they want to expose themselves to the topics.
Most of the events taking place at the Gasteig are not organised by the Gasteig itself, so we were not involved in creating and implementing them. If organisers inform us about potentially distressing content, we will include trigger warnings here. If in doubt, please contact each event’s organisers directly. You can find their contact details on the page of the event.
